Letter from the Director

August 18, 2016

"We’ve reached a critical juncture in the evolution of scholarly publishing. The university press of the future will need to partner with other established leaders to ensure a sustainable tomorrow. Oxford University Press stands alone as a publisher that is well-positioned to meet those challenges on a global scale.

Cornell University Press is thrilled to join University Press Scholarship Online (UPSO). As the first university press to be established in the United States, Cornell has always been, and continues to be, at the forefront of scholarly publishing. UPSO helps us continue that tradition by giving readers a new platform to access our content on an innovative platform.

We join UPSO with over 350 titles and will include over 100 new titles every year. These titles reflect our commitment to and leadership in the fields of the social sciences, humanities, life sciences, natural history, and labor and employment relations and are published under the Cornell University Press, ILR Press, and Comstock Publishing Associates imprints.

Through UPSO’s platform, Cornell University Press will continue to fulfill its mission of publishing quality scholarship that appeals to readers worldwide. It isn’t enough to commit to and publish leading scholarship with top editorial and production values. We must make sure that scholarship reaches the widest potential audience. UPSO allows us to continue to reach that goal."
